Some great places for you and your dog to get some excercise.

STATEN ISLAND Dog Runs and Parks

Silver Lake Park

Hours: Mon.-Fri.: 7 a.m.-dusk; Sat. & Sun.: 9 a.m.-dusk
Location: Victory Blvd., below the pavilion, across from Parkview Apartments
What you’ll find: A large open area, with three benches for owners. Water fountains are nearby, so bring a container for your pup.
People perks: Besides the run, Silver Lake Park includes a freshwater reservoir,tennis courts and an 18-hole public golf course.

Wolfe’s Pond Park Dog Run

Location: Run is to left of Cornelia Avenue
What you’ll find: Benches for owners and lush woodlands abound at this lovely park on the south side of the island.
People perks: Aside from forests, Wolfe’s Pond Park also has a beach, tennis courts and a park for the kids.

Bloomingdale Park

Location:Maguire Avenue behind athletic fields closer to Romona Avenue.
What you’ll find: Most of the 138-acre park was left natural and passive for wildlife. Walking trails have been included for hiking enthusiasts, as well as scenic waterways.
People perks:A portion of the park has been reshaped to offer a baseball field, softball field, soccer field, basketball courts and a playground.

Designated Off-Leash Areas: Certain park areas allow dogs to be off-leash from the time the park opens until 9 a.m. AND from 9 p.m. until the park closes. Dog owners/attendants with dogs off-leash in these designated areas must obey all general rules, including having their dog under control at all times, licensing the dog, and carrying proof of the dog’s rabies vaccination. Parks that contain designated off-leash areas are listed by borough below. Reminder: Off-leash rules do not apply to park areas where dogs are strictly prohibited  (e.g. playgrounds, tennis courts, athletic fields, and basketball/handball courts).
